The main functional task of the complex is the rehabilitation and sheltering of animals, including cats and dogs. The functional task of the complex includes the treatment of both shelter animals and those brought in. For sick animals, a quarantine area is organized with its own outdoor areas and quarantine facilities, in addition to a medical center with necessary diagnostic, manipulative, and surgical capabilities. Also planned is a rehabilitation block with a pool, gym, and procedural rooms. To fulfill the shelter function, enclosures, obedience training blocks, and exercise and outdoor areas for animals are created.

The animal rehabilitation complex is designed with consideration of safety principles for visitors and staff, as well as economic and ecological aspects.

The entire territory of the animal rehabilitation center is divided into functional zones, taking into account prevailing winds so that clean zones are on the leeward side and dirty zones are on the windward side. The concept involves placing all enclosures along the service road in close proximity to the service area to create direct, non-intersecting functional connections. Thus, the quarantine is located farther from the animal housing enclosures. It is allocated to a separate fenced area with sanitary gaps and landscaping of sanitary-protection zones.

The spatial-temporal composition begins with a square for visitors, onto which open the main facades of the volunteers’ building, administrative block, medical center, canteen building, combined with living quarters, and feed preparation workshop. On this pedestrian square, a spatial hinge is installed in the form of a fountain with a sculptural group and a vertical accent – a stele with the logo “Kind House”. Further through the organized passage between the administration and volunteers’ buildings, one can walk onto an alley, along which, intersecting it, flows a stream.
